Part II
Ethical Frameworks Behind Our Code
The Draconic Realms Creations Code of Ethics is also informed by established ethical frameworks. Kant’s categorical imperative supports truthfulness because communicators should never use deception or treat audiences merely as a means to an end. Utilitarianism requires considering whether a message produces more benefit than harm. Rawls’s justice-as-fairness asks communicators to create standards they would consider fair regardless of their position or identity. The Potter Box provides a practical process for defining the situation, identifying values, applying ethical principles, examining loyalties, and selecting a defensible action. Together, these frameworks support truthfulness, fairness, respect, accountability, and minimizing harm in digital communication (Wilkins et al., 2022).
